Sandy Carson’s WE WERE THERE April 13, 2016

we were there

Personally I would be terrified to name a book this. There is so much potential for my grammar challenged brain to screw this up… WERE, We’re, where, there, their, they’re…. Anyway, I think Sandy Carson got this right. WE WERE THERE is a photo book from his unique perspective inside the photo pits at all different sorts of music shows. The photos are really fantasic… Sandy is such a master of catching candid moments. Check out more over on Sandy’s site SandyCarson.com and we highly recommend picking one up here.

Custom Skatedecks for a good cause November 16, 2015

bunches O skates

Some of the Fairdale family and a whole lot of our friends have taken part in The Project Loop 50/50 for Taylor project. The non-profit sends out 100’s of blank skatedecks to artists and Fairdale employees to paint, draw or design on. The finished decks are being auctioned online right now until December 5. There is so many great decks to check out on the site… if nothing else it’s rad inspiration to see so many interpretations of what you can do with a skateboard. Our team rider Sandy Carson meticulously deconstructed his first SLR camera, Tim Kerr honors Jeff Phillips with his deck (Tim was once a hobo in one of our videos), Michael Sieben’s work is always awesome (and he once designed the Roger Bike for us), Jeremy Hrabal helped us out many times building Texas Toast and did this beautiful inlaid board, Jim Bauer is the art director for our mother company Odyssey BMX, is a big part of Fairdale, and put together this rad core sampled board, Steve Crandal helped us out as the announcer for TX Toast and painted a rad board, Aaron Ross  has a couple Fairdales and came up with this giant skateboard/ cell phone thing. I drew the bat on a bike one here. Search around and find decks from Mat Hoffman and loads of other legends of skate and BMX. Also, tons of great artists contributed too. https://www.32auctions.com/50503 -Taj

Cycling, Cameras, and Cats with Sandy Carson September 14, 2015

Sandy Carson was our first team rider back in January of 2012. “Team Rider” is a term we use very loosely at Fairdale. We don’t expect our riders to win races (though Sandy did just win a Texas State Championship on a mountain bike). Hell, we don’t expect our riders to even ride all the time.

Mostly our team is made up of friends who are doing cool things. Folks we admire. People who in some way have bicycles as part of their lives. Sandy couldn’t sum that up more.

As a full time photographer he is always doing something exciting… some shoot or another, working on his own photo books and shows, or traveling around to odd places. More than any of that what really makes us admire his work is the way his photographs portray the world. He takes some of the most interesting photos we know of by catching little details that the rest of us skim over. Those little things that when expertly highlighted can reveal special moments all around us.

On top of all that he is an amazing bike rider. A cyclist who is perpetually motivated to ride all kinds of bikes. Riding with an infectious sense of humor and inspiring enthusiasm. His great history as a sponsored BMX rider means he can naturally shred on any bike. Applying that mastery to bikes with other sized wheels has lead him into an even bigger love for cycling.

We spent some time down in Austin filming the man and would like to present to you this video. Check out our friend Sandy.

Sandy Carson, real Scottish-Texas-American Champion June 3, 2015

IMG_1422

Our Scottish born (and Texas Naturalized) Fairdale OG team rider, Sandy Carson, has been really falling in love with MTB riding. Being a fit dude and having all the skills of a top BMX pro has quickly earned him a Texas State Championship (even though he couldn’t race the last race). Congrats to the dude! He sent over a news report of some cool stuff (and not so cool crashes) he’s been into…
