There’s no way around it, years of riding BMX have left me with a certain ignorance and fear of geared bikes. The idea of having a derailleur flopping around on the back of my bike scares the crap on me. Just seems like chain is going to pop off and all of that rattling and bouncing is just unnatural. It all just seems too fragile, and time and time again shifting systems have proven to be indeed too weak to withstand my over-tightening hit-it-with-a-hammer BMX mechanic skills.

Fairdale signature glasses November 15, 2010
With all the cool companies like Sunday and Cult coming out with Oakley sunglasses collaborations we over at Fairdale were feeling a little left out. Then, on a recent flight up to Rays MTB I got an idea.
It had to be the most flatulent flight I have ever been on. I felt like I could almost see the choking green cloud of farts that was exploding from everyone around me. It was then that I set to work developing the technology to expose those who would take advantage of the airplane’s loud engine noise to let their bowels loose.
Introducing Fairdale In-fart-red imaging technology sunglasses.
Now you will truly know who “dealt-it”.

General-ish update, dogs and bikes and such October 26, 2010
Hanging out with my dogs the last few evenings. Always party time for them.
Dogs are good for you I think, if there’s too much on my mind its nice to be reminded how simple life can be…
Got airplanes on my mind too… lots of traveling coming up soon. I’m always grateful for the chance to travel, and its amazing how many different people have bought me tickets through the years…. I look forward to some kind of teleportation though….
And lately I’ve been learning how to use spreadsheets… putting together the Fairdale bikes, choosing components and stuff. Its an interesting process weighing cost, weight, availability and things while specing a bike. I enjoy it though and I think the bikes are going to be very quality.
One of my favorite bikes is still my old beach cruiser with the grocery baskets. Its not for going fast, but it sure is relaxing to just cruiser around and enjoy. Monty rode shotgun for my 20 mile commute yesterday… it was awesome! Can’t wait till we get some Fairdale cruiser samples going.

Fairdale on TV websites and Skateboard art October 14, 2010
We got a little mention over on ESPN and over on Fuel TV. Thanks guys! Very nice of you.
Fairdale on ESPN story and on Fuel.
Also the art I did for the No Comply skateshop skateboard finally arrived printed on some skateboards.
Pretty stoked to have a new board so big thanks to the guys over at No Comply too. They also let me do some measuring on a bunch of different style boards so we could get some final dimensions for our skateboard rack. Got everything finalized now and so hopefully we’ll have a final prototype made soon (and then they will be available).

Naked, pink and jiggly October 8, 2010
Rather then bouncing around all naked and a little obscene why not cover yourself in a complete outfit from Fairdale?
We finally carved a nitch for ourselves over at the Odyssey webstore. Go check it out here.
Get this 100% cotton American Apparel shirt here.
This American Apparel pocket T is absolutely perfect for carrying around something a little bit smaller then the pocket size. It costs even more because we screen printed some Fairdale stuff on to the front and back of it. Wear one!
Sweet 100% polyester hat with a nice mesh back, foam front and a soft terry cloth like head-band-liner thing. It also has Fairdale on it and features the Texas state capitol building here in Austin that is bigger then even the capitol for the whole USA. Like one?
Bicycle powered lightening! October 6, 2010
My buddy really wants to start a band that only plays while riding around on bikes. It would be cool! We could mic up the freewheels and increase speed with faster songs. The audience would have to ride with us the whole time to hear.
Who’s got a welder to help me build some rock n roll bikes? And I wonder if I can convince Fender to make me a bass guitar handlebar?
