In the fall of 2016 Fairdale had an opportunity to make road frames using custom drawn 3/2.5 titanium tube sets. Our initial thought was that it seemed like a fun R&D project to tackle, but that in the long run it probably wasn’t going to be very practical for Fairdale or our customers.
Titanium is a great material for high-performance bike frames, but the added cost is usually hard for us to justify over chromoly or aluminum when it comes time for production. However, since this would end up as very limited edition project, or maybe never even leave the prototype stages, we decide to go for it, knowing that it would still be an awesome learning experience.
In this video, Leif builds up a Surf Blue Goodship with a little help from some friends and a bunny. The bike turned out looking nice with the matching purple grip tape and water-bottle cages.
We’re honored to work with our friends at Vans on these custom Fairdale Authentics. We’re so psyched, we even built up a matching Fairdale Taj just for them. These shoes will go out to key Fairdale shops, friends, and family as a thank you for their support. On top of that, we’re also giving a bunch of shoes away to lucky Instagram followers.

Did you go on a bike ride, eat some pretzels, and found yourself thirsty? Well, don’t sweat. We have a couple new water bottles in stock.
There’s our 26oz Shark Bike and our 22oz Shark Walk. Each one utilizes The Purist technology which shields the bottle from taste, mold, and staining. Nothing sticks, your bottle stays clean, and your water tastes pure.
In addition to these new water bottles, there’s also our 16oz K.E.G. Storage. It fits in standard water bottle cages with a mouth large enough to stash emergency tools, patch kits, more pretzels, and whatever else you don’t want bunching up your pockets.
The 2016 Weekender Drop comes stock with a 11- 40t rear cassette. With 10 different gears ranging from a-bombing-down-a-hill-high-speed 11t to the granny-gear-hill-climbing 40t you can ride anything that comes your way. Older Weekenders have an 11-36t rear cassette. If you want a bigger range of gears you can follow the traditional path and add a front derailleur and another sprocket up front. Another option is to take advantage of all the 1x upgrades available in the mountain bike world. Leif Valin upgraded Sandy Carson’s Weekender with a OneUp 42t rear cassette kit and a Wolf Tooth narrow/wide front sprocket.
We just received some of our new MX bars. These low-rise chromoly BMX bars can give your bike a new look and feel. Here’s my bike and the switch from Archer bars to MX bars. They have a 4 inch rise and are 28 inches wide. They work especially well with our Weekender Archer, Coaster or Flyer.
